The West Bengal Public Works Department has officially laid the foundation stone for a major bridge connecting the Barnia region to the primary Nadia highway network. This infrastructure project, estimated to cost 45 crores, aims to significantly reduce the commute time for local farmers and traders. The bridge is expected to be completed within 18 months, facilitating smoother transport of agricultural produce to district markets. Local officials emphasized that this development is part of the state government's 'Unnayan' initiative, focusing on rural connectivity. Villagers gathered in large numbers to celebrate the event, expressing hope that the bridge will curb the transport bottlenecks currently plaguing the region during the monsoon season. The project is being executed by a state-contracted firm, ensuring local labor employment throughout the construction phase. Once operational, the bridge will serve as a vital link for over 50,000 residents, boosting the local economy and improving access to healthcare facilities in Krishnanagar.
